Chinese Massage (Tuina Therapy)
Chinese Massage (Tuina Therapy)
In ancient China, medical treatments were often divided into two categories: internal and external therapies. Tuina (pronounced “twee-nah”), or Chinese therapeutic massage, is one of the most effective external treatment methods in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
Tuina is a remedial massage therapy that uses a variety of manual techniques. These techniques aim to relax muscles, reduce tension, relieve pain, and restore the body’s natural balance. Depending on your individual condition or preference, the massage may be gentle and soothing or involve deep tissue work for more targeted relief.
Unlike many modern drug-based treatments, Tuina is completely natural and free of side effects. It is commonly used to complement other therapies in the treatment of a wide range of conditions, particularly musculoskeletal disorders (e.g. back pain, joint stiffness, sports injuries) and chronic stress and fatigue.
At Chinese Therapy Centre, Tuina massage is offered as a standalone therapy or in combination with acupuncture and other TCM treatments, tailored to your individual needs.
